Down with junkfood at school
The British government has announced Wednesday a vast plan against "the scandal" of junkfood at school. "The scandal of junkfood daily served at school must be stopped", the Secretary of State for Education, Ruth Kelly, claimed Wednesday at Brighton, in the south of England, within the framework of the annual congress of the Labour party. "Today, I can announce that from next September on, no school is going to serve sausages or industrial burgers of bad quality", the Secretary said. In the same way, (...) no school is going to have vending machines selling crisps, chocolate bars or sweetened fizzy drinks." These vending machines will be authorized if they sell yoghurts, fresh fruits, milk or mineral water."

me and news!!!
I often watch the news on television with my family and I noticed that every day there are new natural disasters, accidents, tragedies, murders, death. But also good news as births, weddings, etc. I’ll tell you some of these facts more or less in details. Over a period of two weeks we had a natural disaster in the world and one big accident in Belgium.
This 12 January there was an earthquake in Haiti. It had a magnitude between 7.0 and 7.3 on the Richter scale. Its epicentre was near the town of Léogãne, approximately 25 km west of Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince.
Unfortunately we have 230 000 dead and 300 000 injured and 1,2 million of homeless.
Several countries and many celebrities have made many donations to help the Haitian population. They are also hundreds of thousands of private donations.
But today, the rainy season started in Haiti. The humanitarian aid had provided cover for protection from severe weather such unhappily they now longer enough. New tents are toward Haiti. But has they have still not arrived; the survivors have built slums with anything they can find.
This 27 January there was a explosion in Liège street Leopold. This explosion was caused by gas. It has devasted several buildings and one building collapsed.
Unfortunately there were forty dead, twenty injured including two seriously and a lot of homeless. But they were supported by the city of Liège wich has a provision of buildings for housing.
These two big events touché me because I’m a human and the sinister of Haiti is really sad and don’t think a little bit about that is inhuman. We can not be impassive to these poor people have nothing. Charities must still help them and do not let them down as they would soon do so.
The Liège’s explosion touches me because in two years I’ll be in a kot there. And my brother was in Liège during the explosion thus I was not very quiet.

A week’s holiday
I was on holiday last week. Each year I go on holiday with my family. We’re often fifteen with my parents and my brother, my brother’s girlfriend, my mother’s brother and his family and a friend’s couple with their three children. Each year it’s the same thing, we leave Belgium at 3 o’clock because we must be in Martelange more or less at 4 o’clock.
This year we went to “Les Arcs” in the French Alps. We rent a big apartment with seven rooms and seven bathrooms, that’s giant.
We arrived Sunday at 13 o’clock and we unpacked luggage. Then we ate in a restaurant, the weather was beautiful. We walked in the village to digest because in mountain we always eat meal with cheese because that’s so delicious. In the evening we played card together and the younger watched TV.
The three first days we were skiing together except my cousin who was skiing with her friends, the weather was always beautiful, a cloudless blue sky. At noon we stopped on the ski slopes for dinner. After the dinner we were skiing the rest of the day until 17 o’clock. We returned in the apartment to take a shower. My mum and my godmother were preparing the meal every day in the evening. We watched TV because that was the Olympics game in Vancouver and the boys like sports, we really laughed when the French Marion Rolland fell after 5 meters.
Wednesday the weather wasn’t wonderful but all the same good. We were skiing between young. This afternoon was extraordinary. At night we went out, my brother drove my uncle’s car and we went to a bar. That’s really great. Thursday was exactly the same day that Wednesday.
On Friday the weather was really not good so we were a little skiing and at 15 o’clock we returned in the apartment to prepare the luggage because we came home during the night. We were very sad. This year was really a terrific week. The winter holidays are really my favourite holidays. Roll on next year.

Marie's diary!
Carnival holiday's... It was great!!
On Saturday, I'm definitely on holidays and I'm tired. I take a little rest. I wash my bedroom and I tidy my stuffs up. In the afternoon, I make cookies because I'm hungry and I haven't eaten that for a long time! We eat spaghetti's for dinner as every Saturday! It's so yummy!! :)
On Sunday I'm cheerful because it's the Pat'carnival in Bastogne and it's also St-Valentine's Day! There's a lot of great music as " The power of love from Frankie goes to Hollywood" on the radio and I like it! It's not too cold and there's snow. Very romantic for the lovers!
I see a lot of my friends and my family. There's a good vibe with a big cortege. We follow " Les Choffleux de Buse" all the way. In the evening, it's " La Bande a Lolo" who plays and I like this band, they're the best ever!
Monday, I took rest too because I'm tired and the night after, I'm going to spend two days on Disneyland Resort Paris with people from my school and my cousin. Here we are! It's four o'clock and we wake up! We take our shower and we make our sandwiches. We take my cousin's car to go to La Roche. Then we take a bus to go as far as Paris. The next two days were wizard! I visit the park and the buildings and everything is enchanting. I meet Minnie and Mickey for the first time. :) On the second day it rained a little but it was not a big problem. After that, we were tired because we didn't sleep much at night! ^^
The second Sunday, it's already my last holiday's day, I'm sad...
My father and I go to a restaurant for lunch and we see an exhibition about the second world war during the afternoon. It's very interesting and gripping. The day is over and I make my schoolbag for the following day.

Barbara's diary
We’re on Friday,the beginning of the holidays. The day is very long, again, I have a lot of homework for school. I see the difference since I'm in fifth, the courses are more difficult, especially mathematics. Even if it's the holidays, I'll do my homework because I’m leaving during the holidays. The day ended, I say goodbye to my friends that I'll see TuesdayJ.
Saterday 13th February
Today, I'll go shopping. For the moment I don’t find anything. I come away with a t-shirt and a sweater. We are on 27 days of the carnival. Personally I don’t like it. It's always cold and everybody’s drunk. I prefer the Carnival of the sun because... there's sun of course. With the girls we’ve an idea for our costume, we must just find it!
Sunday 14th February
Today, it’s Valentine's day. I’m with my boyfriend. ♥
For me Valentine’s day isn’t very important. We can make presents all other days of the year. I thing that now the 14th February is too commercial. When we look at the television, in revieuws or on the internet Valentine’s day is everywhere and there are thousand and thousand of gifts. For me the most beautiful gifts for Valentine’s day are flowers and chocolate of course.
Monday 15th February
We are on Monday and tomorow I’m going to Disneyland Paris with others students from my classroom. It’s the first time that I’m going there. I’ve learn the railway accident wich took place near Brussels. There are between 12 and 15 dead. It’s the second big disaster after the explosion of Liège. But the media profit of these stories to make money and that’s not right towards the population. It’s the same thing with Haiti and I found that worrying. Also when we’ve learn the dead of Mickael Jakson.
Tuesday 16th February
Today, we go to Disneyland ParisJ. I’ve to get up early because we’re going at 6 o’clock. 4 hours of roads, it goes fast enough. When we was arrived, it was sunny but cold. I spend a good time and I discoverd the magic of the park because its the fisrt time that I go to Disney.
The day was long and I wanted to go sleep.
Everything’s magic but the queue for the attractions are the most annoying! We’ve make a foto whit Mickey. I was happy when we arrived at the hotel.
Wednesday 17th Fevruary
We’re at Disney for a day enough. Today, it rains. The parc under the rains isn’t the same. I haven’t sleep very well so I’m very tied and moody. It feel better during the day besause we’ve done the attractions. At 5 o’clock we were looking for the parade, it was beautiful. It was a good day but I wanted to find my bed, to sleep.
Finaly, at midnight, I was in my bed and at last I can sleep!
Thursday 18th February
I slept well but not enough, it will take some time to recover the accumulated fatigue. It’s 9:45h when I wake up. I continue my homework because I’m going in the afternoon. Yes, as just I’m back, I'm leaving. Today it’s my grandmother’s birthday, she’s 71.
Other than that, I’ve nothing planned for the day except to do nothong. I’m very tired and the journey will be relax.
Friday 19th February
It’s the last day of the week and nearly the last of the holidaysL. I’m not home, ans it’s good for me to take a step back with my parents because for the moment I can’t them understand. I’m listening to music, it make ma happy. Music, music and music. I listen always music to have a good dayJ.
Its one of my weeks, you can see that I haven’t a superstar’s life but it’s mine!
